Gun Blueing at Armurier-Gunsmith

Armurier-Gunsmith: slow rust blueing

GUN BLUEING:  What?

We do gun blueing on fine, or collectors firearms of any kind, according to canadian law:

- Long guns

- Restricted guns

- Prohibited guns

GUN BLUEING:  Which method?

We use the slow rust method or Damascus brown that was used to blue the best of the Europeans gun products. This method is still used today in high end factories, or in high skilled gunsmithing shops.

We take a lot of care during the preparation process to keep every angle sharp, every surface plane, every corner square, and don't remove, or damage the engraving work , nor the proof marks.

GUN BLUEING:  When?

We do gun blueing by batches, each year from the 1st of December to the 30th of June.

So, the best time to have your gun blued is the winter time, after the hunt, or shooting season.

We suggest you to bring us your gun as soon as possible, as the blueing batches are done on the first come first served basis.

GUN BLUEING: How?

If you have gunsmith skills you can remove the stock, the forearm, and the riflescope by your self.

But we need to get the parts to be blued ''as is'', non prepared.

Firearms which have been all ready prepared, or previously painted, varnished, or lacquered will be refused.
